Reddit atheism has helped reinforce the reputation of atheists as being low brow and low-class

On June 14, 2013, the atheist James Watt wrote:
The largest community of atheists in the world is the Atheism Subreddit with over 2 million members. It grew to those numbers by being a catch all for anything even slightly related to the interests of atheists. However, the subreddit founder, Skeen, was one of the worst moderators on Reddit, permitting anything to be posted to /r/Atheism and allowing complete anarchy.

I will admit, I was one of the people who were annoyed by Skeen’s lack of moderation. Here we had the largest community of atheists on the planet, but instead of good articles and discussions, all the community could manage was a repost of what Ricky Gervais had to say about religion. Every. Single. Day.
Ricky isn’t even a deep thinker, he’s just a comedian!

The Barna Group found that atheists and agnostics in America were more likely, than theists in America, to look upon the following behaviors as morally acceptable: illegal drug use; excessive drinking; sexual relationships outside of marriage; abortion; cohabitating with someone of opposite sex outside of marriage; obscene language; gambling; pornography and obscene sexual behavior; and engaging in homosexuality/bisexuality.
